Why subscribe?

This is the new online home for the music writing of Larry "Fuzz-O" Dolman, aka BLASTITUDE, your #1 esteemed blasting underground tip sheet for #heavymusicinallstylesandvolumes since the year 2000 AD. That’s right, BLASTITUDE is moving, from its most recent steady home at blastitude.blogspot.com, to over here at blastitude.substack.com (even though we still own and very occasionally maintain our ancestral home at blastitude.com). Click on the “subscribe” button at the bottom of this page, and every new hopefully-weekly or maybe-bimonthly edition of the newsletter will go directly to your preferred email inbox, and can also be accessed (and will be archived) at (the ever-growing) blastitude.substack.com.

Blastitude has always been free, but my original plan with the Substack was to keep it free for a year, and then put up a paywall of $5 a month (or $40 a year, 33% off IF YOU SUBSCRIBE NOW). But you know what? I don’t think I can do that. I think the pay option is there for those who appreciate Blastitude and want to donate a little bit of cash to it each year. You couldn’t do that with blastitude.com, and you can’t do it with blastitude.blogspot.com, but now you CAN do it, with blastitude.substack.com. Throw me some cash? Much appreciated. Read it for free? Much appreciated. It’s not a subscription, it’s a tip jar. The proverbial open guitar case in front of a particularly appreciated busker. (Aw shucks, I’m blushing. Call it “blusking.” And call me Ishmael too, while you’re at it.)

If you dare send an LP/CS/CD for review, I really appreciate that too, but please know my review schedule is completely unpredictable and must stay that way. I might have never heard of you before, but listen to your record right away, and love it, and it might still take me five years to write a review. This is not hyperbole, and in the meantime, I’m publishing reviews of Neil Young’s 993rd album and the Eric Andre Show and you’re like “aaaargh.” Anyway if you’re OK with taking your chances, mail that stuff to:

It really is greatly appreciated, even if you never hear a peep from me about it, so thank you.

But yeah, send me digital/streaming links to any and all records, any time, larrydolman at the gmail dot com domain. (Especially with a note that in any way reveals and feeds back on the fact that you read Blastitude, smiley face emoji.) Bandcamp is the best, but Google Drive works too, any link I can click on once (or twice at most) and there I am listening to your record.

P.S. For almost 20 years worth of archived and free BLASTITUDE music writing go to blastitude.blogspot.com and the grandaddy of ‘em all blastitude.com. Please note: the back issue links, as presented 15-20 years ago on the original blastitude.com website, barely work at all. But all the issues are still online, and can be accessed using the simple URL formula of blastitude.com/1, blastitude.com/2, blastitude.com/3, and so on, all the way THROUGH issue #15. When you get to #16, the URLs start to go a little haywire. I don’t wanna fix ‘em anymore on all the old pages, but please use this handy guide to access ‘em all:
